This picture of the absolutely brilliant June Whitfield was taken at her home in Wimbledon. Everyone remembers her as the nurse in Hancock’s blood donor sketch and ‘Absolutely fabulous’ but there was also television and radio work with Frankie Howerd, Terry Scott, Jimmy Edwards, Benny Hill, Dick Emery and Roy Hudd.

While I was at the house June asked if I could hang a picture on the wall above her sofa. As I was doing it but the thought did occur to me that if it fell off the wall while she was sitting having a cup of tea the newspaper headlines the next day might be .…“ National treasure June Whitfield, victim of bodged DIY job!”
