Larry Adler

Larry Adler, Harmonica playerPhotographed Covent garden studio London October 1984

This was a double exposure on a 6x7 medium format camera in the studio (the days before ‘Photoshop’) and was created by having two set ups in the studio that Larry Adler could walk between and I would just take the film back off the camera and expose between one and the other. Charming man, and this photograph was taken for a feature on ’people and their portraits’. He had music written for him by Vaughan Williams, played Jazz and blues and played on pop songs with Elton John, Kate Bush, Sting, Carly Simon and Elvis Costello.

He was also Oscar nominated for his playing on the soundtrack of the film ‘Genevieve’.
